2011 SPLASH NEWSLETTER UPDATES
Hello PHSC Families.
I am sure I am not alone to be thinking of warmer weather.
I get grief from my fellow Board members about taking up too much space each year in the newsletter. I argue that we have a lot of exicting things to say, and this season is no different.
To start, let me give you a couple of quick updates on progress we have made since last summer:
Additionally, please also welcome Jack Rees as our new Social Chair and Diana Hull has taken over as Secretary.
Maybe you have heard that we have brought a new Skipper on board. Dave Leedy will be our new Pool Manager. We are excited to have his many years of experience at PHSC. I encourage you to get to know Dave. He is bringing some great new ideas to help develop our staff.
I would like to conclude with a message to ask you to get involved. After this pool season, there could be up to four open Board positions that will need to be filled. There are many exciting things taking place and this can be your opportunity to steer the direction of PHSC going forward. I encourage you to get involved.
We will be incorporating our website and email more to keep you up to date with what is happening at PHSC. Our first important date is Spring Clean Up, scheduled for May 7. We have several projects that will need your help. Please mark your calendar.
Finally, and maybe most importantly, the pool will open on Friday May 27 at 5:00. We will have our Grill Team cooking your favorite fare for a reasonable price.

- The drainage system has been installed.
- The entire area has been repaved.
- Some fencing has been removed.
- Bushes have been removed and the slope has been graded in areas.
- New volleyball sand.

Operations Update
Hello, I am Mike Ryan and I am the Vice President for Operations at
PHSC. I wanted to bring you up to speed on a couple of projects that
have taken place or will be starting.
First, if you have driven to the pool you would have noticed that we
have completed the first phase of the tennis court project. In
November, Centerville Landscaping installed an intricate drainage
system in the parking field as well as under the new asphalt. We
believe that this will allow for many years of enjoyment to come. We
will be installing the basketball hoops again and will do our best to
paint in the lines and hopefully start some basketball leagues this
summer. We will also be painting in 4-square games and hopscotch for
the kids. If you have any other ideas please let us know.
Also, we are hoping to update the women's changing room. We would like
to install two changing stalls as well as improve lighting and
airflow. If you have any expertise in electrical work please let me
know. We could use the help.

is almost 40 years old and we want to continue to take the best care
as possible. We believe our pool to be in sound condition.
If you have ideas as to how to make the pool better please share them.

First of all I would like to apologize for the late arrival of the invoices this year, I broke 2 fingers on my right hand playing football with my son and that slowed my typing down quite a bit. Anyway, the invoices were all sent out in March, if for some reason you did not get one, please contact me ASAP. Please note that the forms are again double sided in an effort to conserve our natural resources. Be sure to fill out both sides prior to returning them. If you did not turn in your membership cards at the end of the season, please send them in with your membership info, extra postage will be necessary. Also, as we move ahead we are planning to be able to e-mail invoices by next year so be sure to update your e-mail information. We are hoping to reach full membership again this year. If you have any friends that are interested in joining our spectacular pool, please have them contact me soon or visit the website for the membership application form. My family and I are looking forward to a great summer at Pleasant Hill Swim Club.
